bluetan is a small art collective started in North Carolina in 2005 by Joseph O’Neal and Geoff Henshall that sprung out of a mutual interest in contemporary art and a shared desire to be part of the international conversation. Relocating to Brooklyn, NY in 2007, bluetan has grown to a tight-knit collective of Joseph O’Neal, Geoff Henshall, Brandon Fonville, Steve Chellis, and Joe Strasser. In addition to their own, independent work, the members collaborate as often as possible as a collective on gallery shows, museum events, art festivals, zine publications and group and solo exhibitions that have taken their works around world.

The five members work in an array of mediums through photography, paintings, installation and mixed media works. bluetan consists of five artists with five unique styles and sets of experiences, yet the work flows together with familiar transcendental qualities.

Zines:
In an effort to provide quality work to collectors of all budgets, bluetan began releasing small-run zines and booklets focusing on fine art/photography ideas from it’s members and a curated group of guests such as George Spencer, Lance Rautzhan, Jason Spencer and more. bluetan zines have been featured in collections and events around the world such as Tokyo’s Booklet Library, The NY Art Book Fair, Indie Photobook Library, 8 Ball Zine Fest and more.
